All About Film
Hello, and welcome to my Filmmaking Portfolio. I am a passionate and unusual filmmaker. My most recent project was about how artists, musicians, and other creatives in Ukraine are resisting the Russian invasion through their work. This was shown at the Documentaries Without Borders Festival in April 2024 in the USA. In the UK I made a short film called Survivor about a Nigerian woman who was sold to sex traffickers by her aunt but who eventually managed to escape. This was shown at the Global Indie Film Fest in Glasgow in 2021. I have also made films on difficult social problems in the former Soviet Union, male loneliness in Moscow, corruption in Ukraine, and the social consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. Other projects include a short film about 2 amateur stand-up comedians in London and their journey to become professional comics. I have worked as a reporter and journalist in the UK, Russia and Ukraine and bring an attitude and vision to film making, which reflects these opposing and often contradictory cultures. As a native Brit who speaks fluent Russian I am able to observe both worlds and see them differently to what is regarded as the norm, something I believe is important for any artist.
